These things make a lot of sense. Dogs love to stick their heads out the window of cars, and I read once that the high flow of air can actually damage their eyes. (Might be that the wind dries our eyes, damaging retinas, etc?)

Hm, I just did a quick scholarly Google search and it seems debris, dust, dirt (oh my!) can damage the eyes. And even hardcore flapping of their ears in the wind can damage ear tissue. Oh. And of course, they might fall out of the car… Doggles still can’t fix everything!
